Variable data printing

Variable data printing means each printed piece can be different. It is a revolution in print technology allowing marketers to personalise and focus their written communication. Images and text can be changed as well as recipient names and addresses. So although you want the communication to go to a large number of people you can speak directly to each individual.

And it isn't the quality of a colour photocopy but high quality print on a par with traditional litho. Here are some examples of uses:

Direct Mail
Customer Service
Corporate Documents

Direct Mail
Direct marketing should talk to consumers not as a single mass, but as individuals with different needs and motivations. We all know this results in higher response rates. Still, most people?s doormats are littered with generic mailings.

Full colour personalised direct marketing is possible for all who have gathered data about their customers. Ideally this includes some lifestyle data, but it is amazing how much even date-of-birth information can achieve!!

Customer Service
Personalising communication to each customer or customer groups can improve your customer service. Making your communication more relevant and less prone to misunderstandings.

Full colour news letters, magazines, vouchers and other printed material can be varied to match your customers? geographic location, income bracket, education level or other relevant detail. And product manuals can be versioned to match variations in your products.

Corporate Documents
The most common personalisation of corporate printed material is business cards. Corporate image can be further improved by personalising directors? and managers? letter headed paper. Staff handbooks, policies and other documents can be versioned to make them more relevant to each employee.

How It Works

Variable data printing merges a design template with information taken from a database. Both imagery and text can be varied.

We can merge personalised data with your print designs if you use QuarkXpress, or InDesign. Or, if you use the PrintWizard, you will be able to create variable data using almost any software.

Supply your database information in a simple Excel spreadsheet. Alternatively tab deliminated and CSV files can be used. Please contact us to discuss compatibility.
